Q: What is the weight limit for the pony? May my 1 year old ride?
A: You bet! Our uniformed attendant (or the parent) simply holds onto the britches of the smaller riders.
The riding pony may carry up to 75 lbs - an average 7-8 year old in size. If the party is for bigger kids - we
offer a small riding horse, 150 lb limit, there is no charge to substitute the horse for the pony. And a third
option - for those mixed parties (both small & larger kids), you may order the pony for the first half of the
riding time, and the horse for the second half of the riding time (at NO extra charge!)
Yes, the little horse can give rides even in your backyard, same as the pony! No, the horse does
not cause any harm to the lawn. :-)
Q: What sort of space / surface do we need for the ponies and the other fun activities?
A: The average backyard has plenty of room! Or, your front sidewalk is good, too. The pony needs at
least 6' wide x 15' long - bigger is better, of course. The games need the same amount of space. The
face painting / balloon animal table only needs a 5' x 5' space. The FP/BA table must be within sight of the
pony rides (in other words, can not have one in the frontyard, and the other in the backyard.) The ground
surface must be a flat surface - grass, dirt, concrete or tarmac. Pony may not walk on sloped
surface or sharp rocks. We take extra care never to step on your sprinkler heads, or cause any harm to
your yard.
Q: May we give the pony an apple? May we pet the pony? How about take our own photos?
A: The birthday child is welcome to give the pony a treat (with our attendant's assistance, so that little
fingers are not mistaken for carrots!) However, all the guests can not give the pony a treat, as just like
too much of a good thing will give a child a belly ache, so to for the pony. Yes, our pony *loves* attention
and to be petted! Parents are welcome with their cameras - just signal our attendant, and she will even
pose the pony for the best photo shot!
Q: Will the pony have an "accident" during the party? Will the pony eat my grass?
A: The pony will sometimes poop, however, we sweep it up immediately. And take it home with us!
Leaving only a fun time and happy memories behind! Regarding lawns - your choice - :-) If you do not
wish the pony to eat the grass, we will take care that she does not. If you do not mind, then we will give
her a special treat with a little bit of nibbling. We never allow the pony to eat your rose bushes, trees or
flowers!
Q: We are thinking of a swimming pool party - what about bounce castles, pinatas, or soccer/basketball
games, during the party? What about if we hire a Magician, too?
A: Face Paint washes off quickly with water, something to consider. It is ok with us, if that is ok with you.
Let us know if it is a pool party, and we will bring a towel for the pony saddle - so that the kids may ride,
even with wet bottoms! A bounce castle is ok - the pony just needs to be well away from it, as noisy air
compressors are awfully "scary monsters"! :-) Pinatas are fun - but the pony should be well away from
swinging bats and flying yummie candies - with that in mind, no reason not to enjoy a pinata! Balls, nurf
guns, projectiles, electric cars, bicycles, horn party favors - these should wait till the end of the pony
rides. Excited little kids don't realize it's not a good idea to blast a horn in the pony's ear, or accidentally
bounce a ball off a soft nose surprising the pony while she's giving rides. So - please save these things
until after the pony is put away! :-)
We do not mind at all, if you wish to hire additional entertainers, no problem! :-)
Q: May I order just the Face Painting and no pony?
A: Yes, Monday thru Friday year round ... we are happy to service Indoor FP/BA parties! However, during
the warmer months ( from Feb.15 thru Nov.15 ) weekends Saturday & Sunday are reserved for Outdoor
Pony Parties.
Q: May our family or guests' dogs check out the pony?
A: Even little dogs sometimes wish to "protect" their family and "territory" (the backyard) from the "big
stranger" (the pony.) In a pony's eye, a chichuahua is Cujo! :-) Please have dogs put away during the
party, or on a leash. If there is a loose dog, the pony ride must stop until the dog is put away, or leashed.
This is an important safety point.
Q: How early do you arrive for setting things up?
A: We arrive to check in, 30 minutes before party start time. Payment is collected on arrival, then we set
up all the equipment. Sometimes we finish setup early, in which case, you will receive that extra fun time
complimentary!
Q: Is there a deposit?
A: Yes, a $10.00 non-refundable deposit guarantees your day and time! Exception: If the party is
canceled due to Bad Weather, or canceled with 30 or more days notice for any reason - then the $10
deposit *is* refundable.
Q: I want to book my party - what's the next step?
A: Email questions welcome anytime! For reservations - just give us a call! Reservations by phone only,
as this ensures accurate scheduling. When you call, we will fill out an order over the phone, and email
(same day) your temporary hold. We allow several mailing days for $10.00 deposit to arrive (personal
check or money order.) The day the deposit arrives, your party is confirmed, and we email a Confirmation
Letter (which is your receipt.)
We also give a short courtesy call the day before your party. Many parents hire us several months
before their party, and have not spoken with us between. It's always nice to "touch base" the day before
the party. Calls welcome anytime!
On the day of the party, during check-in, the balance is due ... balance is cash only (no checks, no
cards.)
Q: What is your Bad Weather policy?
A: The night before, and the morning of, every party day - we check your address with www.Weather.com
This is a great site, very accurate! By keying in your zip code, and clicking on "Hour-by-Hour" - we are
able to get the report, right down to the time of your party. If at the time of your party, the forecast is
below 45 degrees (40 on a sunny non-windy day is ok), or Snowing, or Raining - this is defined as a Bad
Weather day. In this case, you may choose one of three options ....
1.) Cancel, if due to Bad Weather, with no less than 6 hours' notice - the parent must call RMT via our
phone number (do not just leave an email, as we likely will not see it in time.) Then your $10 deposit is
refunded.
2.) Reschedule. If due to Bad Weather, your $10 deposit moves to the new date. Remember, we must
have not less than 6 hours' notice.
3.) Choose an Indoor Alternate package (Face Painting and/or Balloon Animals.) See the bottom of our
rates' page at www.APonyRidePlus.com
These Indoor Alternates are at a lower rate, as there are no Pony or Outdoor Games. This option is
designed for when the "party must go on", but the parent does not wish to be stranded with a house full
of disappointed kids, and no entertainer!
In addition, when the Indoor Alternate is chosen on a Bad Weather day -- we give the birthday parent
one complimentary "Pony Fun Day" certificate. This is a $30 value. We understand when a child was
*really* looking forward to the pony on their birthday - and we understand that we can not control a bad
weather day. This certificate allows the birthday child to still get a chance to enjoy his pony, later on,
complimentary!
The "Pony Fun Day" certificate has no expiration date, is redeemable Monday thru Friday, by
appointment, at our location in Deer Trail, CO (east of Denver, on I-70.) "Pony Fun Day" welcomes the
birthday child and two siblings or friends (3 kids max) for a laid back day of farm fun! The children get 2
rides each on the pony, time to brush and decorate the "Tiny Brushin' Pony", a face painting and a
balloon animal, feed the chickens, and hunt for an egg in the hen house ... and depending on the time of
year you come out, they also get to hand milk a momma goat, bottle feed a baby goat, hold a baby chick,
pick a vegetable from our garden, and you may bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while watching the animals
play in their pens before your drive home. (Note - check ahead of time to see if the baby goats etc are
available, as these are seasonal.)
